Big Sean pays Slash $8.7 million for his Mulholland Estates mansion

This story is gonna be a quickie because Yolanda is on her way out the door to do some Hanukkah and Christmas shopping and attend to an urgent mani/pedi appointment. Stressful stuff.

Anyway, a little birdie whispered to Yolanda that there’s a new famous resident in the already celeb-swarmed Mulholland Estates guard-gated community located way up in the mountains above LA. His name is Sean Anderson, but he’s probably better known to you young’uns as Big Sean, the rapper.

Mr. Sean, as we shall call him, hails from Detroit. The first song that Yolanda recalls hearing from him was this one, where he and Nicki Minaj set a new world record for saying the word “ass” 1,871 times in the span of four minutes. Our Mr. Sean made the Guinness record for that, we swear! Just Google it.

Big Sean

Yolanda spoke to our little birdie and asked how Mr. Sean got his “Big” nickname. Is he tall in stature? No, said Lil’ Birdie, the nickname actually comes from his big — well, you know. Bratwurst.

Good gracious! Don’t call Yolanda a prude, but we were raised in an era where any gentlemen who had to brag about the size of his ding dong probably didn’t have a very sizable “package” at all, although TMZ claims otherwise in the case of Mr. Sean. But that is all we shall say on that subject. We digress!

Anyway, the house that Mr. Sean has bought was previously owned by another famous musician: rocker Slash of Guns ‘n Roses fame and fortune. Our boy and his now-ex-wife Perla Hudson bought the house together in happier marital times for $7,300,000 (back in 2009)

Although Yolanda’s property records database has not yet been updated, our little birdie told us the off-market sale went down for $8,700,000, significantly less than the $10,995,000 that Slash was originally asking two years ago but still comfortably above what he paid in 2009.

Now Yolanda knows that not all readers here are from LA, or are familiar with this particular neighborhood. So let us give you a wee geography lesson. The guard-gated community of Mulholland Estates was dreamed up by some crafty developers a couple decades ago. Said developers managed to finagle a 90210 zip code for the houses in the enclave, so most residents write their address as “Beverly Hills, CA 90210”.

However, y’all, this community is not within the city limits of Beverly Hills and is actually — technically speaking — located in the hills above Sherman Oaks, meaning that Mulholland Estates is geographically part of the San Fernando Valley, zip code be damned. Yolanda realizes this may seem like a very silly thing to get technical about, but you’d be surprised how many people in Beverly Hills care about this inconsequential stuff. It can be a damn big deal. We’re just sayin’.

But more importantly…

The 10,471-square-foot mansion was built in 2005 and set on a .45-acre lot near the entrance to the community. Described in the listing as a “Modern Mediterranean masterpiece” (hmmm…) the two-story pad features a double-height entry vestibule that leads to a stone staircase and a rather elegant living room that is unfortunately thrown off by the overgrown and gaudy fireplace/mirror combo. Egads!

The kitchen has two center islands and high-end appliances, and the mirror-filled dining room has a coffered ceiling. The backyard contains a sand volleyball court, a pool/spa combo, and a outdoor BBQ station plus a fireplace.

The home theater has a rather unpleasantly lurid red ceiling but is decently large, and in the basement lurks a home nightclub. Yes, kiddies. Mr. Slash installed a nightclub in his home, complete with a chrome stripper pole.

Real klassy!

There are a total of 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms in the mansion — the master suite is surprisingly demure (save for that purple carpet in the closet) and contains a fireplace, a sitting area, and a glassy shower.

We’re not sure if it had anything to do with him purchasing this house, but Big Sean’s new crib happens to be directly across the street from the even larger mansion that DJ Khaled bought for $9,900,000 last year from British crooner Robbie Williams. (Mr. Sean and Mr. Khaled have collaborated on previous musical compositions, in case y’all were not aware).

In addition to Big Sean and DJ Khaled, other celebrity residents in Mulholland Estates include Paris Hilton (who has lived in the community for a decade and has had numerous security issues), Charlie Sheen (who has also had numerous security issues), Adrienne Maloof, Tracey Edmonds, Brian Wilson, Judith Light and Robert Desiderio, Vanna White, billionaire Sumner Redstone’s ex-girlfriend Sydney Holland, Christina Aguilera, and Kendall Jenner (who just bought in the enclave a couple months ago).
