Last November, soccer star Jermaine Jones posted a bitter rant on Instagram. In it, he complained about all things American soccer: the games, the coaches, and even (oh, horrors!) the fans.
That this rant came just days after the LA Galaxy team declined his contract option was a fact not lost on folks, most of whom derided his complaints as petty and immature. “The saltiest man in Los Angeles” one scathingly christened him.
Despite the fans’ assumptions, Yolanda wonders if Mr. Jones’s angry lash-out had less to do with his contract option than the fact he had just spent a very large sum of money on a new house in Calabasas. After all, Mr. Jones can easily go play somewhere abroad, but moving his family — his wife and his five children — is a completely different story!
A few months back, Yolanda’s longtime friend Vlad The Revealer at the Celebrity Address Aerial website reached out to inquire about a large new spec-mansion that had just sold for $4,875,000 to a mysterious blind trust. The property is situated in a new gated community in Calabasas filled with several large hillside lots: this particular property has nearly 12 acres of land, a massive amount for anywhere in LA.
Eventually Yolanda discovered that Mr. Jones and his former beauty queen wife Sarah Gerth were the new owners.
The new Jones homestead is located in the Country Ridge Estates gated community and tucked into the base of the Santa Monica Mountains just off Mulholland Highway. The sprawling Neo-Spanish Revival estate has a generous 7-car garage plus nearly 7,500-square-feet of living space with 6 beds and 8.5 baths.
As you’d expect of a nearly $5 million spec-manse, the interior boasts trendy dark hardwood floors and a host of luxury features. The massive great room has a vaulted ceiling and a row of disappearing glass panels that open to the backyard patio. The family room is equipped with French doors and a ceiling fitted with faux-exposed wooden beams.
Also exceptionally large is the kitchen/breakfast nook area, which sports every conceivable high-end appliance.
The most unusual feature of the property — besides the 12 acres of land — is that the house contains not one but two separate master suites, one upstairs and one downstairs. Yolanda assumes without any direct knowledge that Mr. & Mrs. Jones sleep together (hey, we’re just saying) so maybe the five Jones kids will have to duke it out over the other master? Yikes!
Anywho, both master suites are gigantic and contain private balconies and marble-filled bathrooms with sitting areas. (Really, how ridiculous. Who wants to lounge in a bathroom?)
Yolanda unfortunately does not have any photos of the home’s backyard, but we know there it is fully equipped with an outdoor kitchen, shaded loggias, a large rectangular swimming pool, and a separate flat pad of vacant land that could be used for horses or a new sports court.
As the LA Times snitched some months back, Mr. and Mrs. Jones once owned a Mediterranean McMansion in Encino that they bought in 2011 for $2,500,000 from that crazy lady Tori Spelling and her philandering hubby Dean McDermott.
Records peeped by Yolanda show the Joneses recently sold the Encino property in an off-market deal to local real estate agent Craig Knizek. The sale price was $3,200,000 — still a modest profit for them, but far less than the $4.5 million they originally wanted.
We digress. Although we have no idea whether Mr. Jones is planning to sell his big new Calabasas estate, we can only assume based on his repeated comments that his days in America are severely numbered. Right, Mr. Jones?
